I would like to take this opportunity to thank The Northern Daily Leader for your newspaper’s wonderful support of our members in their efforts to fundraise for The Australian Foundation for the Peoples of Asia and the Pacific Ltd (AFAP). Your coverage of the Annalisa Kerrigan concerts held in Bingara on July 25 and in Tamworth on July 26 contributed significantly to the overwhelming success of these events.
Annalisa Kerrigan performed for approximately 500 people while she was in Bingara and Tamworth. She was accompanied by Marcus Holden on violin and by Tamworth’s own Bill Gleeson OAM on piano. For the fifth year running, the people of Tamworth came out in force to hear “the voice of an angel” and support AFAP in its work to address the causes of poverty in communities in Africa and Asia.
AFAP would like to publicly thank the people of the North-West for their continuing loyalty. In particular, the concert committee members, Dianne Drew, Ruth Blakely, Phillipa Powell, Liz Graham and Robyn Collins, deserve special thanks for all their hard work in bringing fantastic talent to Bingara and Tamworth for all to enjoy. The concerts raised close to $13,000 which will help fund a number of health and income generating initiatives for some of the world’s most vulnerable people.
It is on behalf of these people that we thank The Northern Daily Leader for supporting us. As a small organisation with very limited resources, media coverage such as you provided is very much appreciated.
