Mines, farms can’t ‘co-exist’ forever

IT would be absolutely criminal to allow coal mining to go ahead in the Caroona area. This area contains some of the best agricultural land in the world.

I don’t care what all the so called experts are saying. Once the damage has been done it can’t be repaired. It is amazing how studies can be interpreted, particularly when there are $$$ involved.

I read with interest how the powers that be are claiming that mining and agriculture can co-exist.

Some years ago I recall attending a rally of farming bodies and including politicians, which was held on a significant dairy farm at Ravensworth/Camberwell in the Hunter Valley, next door to a new coal mine.

The mining company involved was espousing that dairy farming and coal mining could co-exist. The coal mining company eventually purchased and ran that dairy, but unfortunately the dairy is no longer in operation.
