TV coverage of the Beijing Olympics has produced superb programming of the events and interesting interviews with athletes etc, but the interviews with various Australian coaches raised doubts in my mind about their ability, in view of their age, and not particularly good results by our males. Strangely enough, our ladies did very well indeed.
Also, the weight of “Aussie” trainers was excessive. This is fact, not criticism – the half-dozen instructors that I witnessed were at least 15 stone plus, and I sympathise, as I weigh in at 14 stone, height six foot.
I’m sure there are experienced, younger experts, lean and mean, who are well-equipped to train our up and coming athletes more efficiently in future, capable of achieving better results in the London Olympics of 2012.
