Don’t believe hype on climate change

1/09/2008 10:13:00 AM
I ENJOYED Gary Verri’s letter (NDL, August 27). Climate change is a reality. The Northern Hemisphere will be hardest hit as their food production will decrease as temperatures drop. Australia will be a living paradise in comparison. Al Goreans take note! A very good site to surf is www.iceagenow.com or “Not fire but ice will kill us?”

Forget the Green’s screams that human CO2 emissions are causing global warming and climate change. That’s a big fat fib and political witch hunt! Human activity enhances natural CO2 emissions in our atmosphere, but by such a minuscule amount it’s laughable! The amount of CO2 in our atmosphere is only 0.4 per cent overall. Pollution is another matter.

Maybe they should update their uni degrees, as the one I took supports the above hypothesis. Humans change climates/weather? We’ve tried with the odd rain dance, I suppose. Extremely powerful universal and global natural forces are involved and all humans can do is adapt. Or perish?

However, I believe we should concentrate our efforts researching and implementing sustainable agriculture and horticulture systems. In Oz we must change conventional farming methodology to adapt successfully, mainly to improve the fertility of our soils, productivity and animal health.

An increasing number of people are taking TAFE’s rural skills courses, including some graziers and farmers, to study organic farming/

gardening, that covers aspects pertaining to climate change.
