ST Nicholas’s Abby Schmiedel and Chloe Coe will be aiming for a State touch title at Forster next month.
The pair have been selected to represent Polding at the annual State PSSA Carnival after impressive performances playing for the Armidale Diocese at Parkes recently.
They will compete against the best primary touch players in the State at Forster, with teams from eleven other areas – Riverina, Sydney North, Western, Mackillop, South Coast, Sydney West, North Coast, Hunter, Sydney East, North West and Sydney South West – vying to hold aloft the State
silverware.
Schmiedel (Year 6) and Coe’s (Year 5) Armidale team finished with four wins, a draw and a loss from their Parkes sojourn, with the talented Tamworth duo later earning their first-call ups to the Polding team.
Coe’s selection in the side is the second in as many years for the family after elder sister Brittany represented Polding at last year’s carnival.
St Edward’s Dana Constable was also in that side.
Schmiedel and Coe will also be in contention for higher honours, with the State team to contest the national titles in Launceston in October to be selected from the August 19-21 carnival.
