KIMBERLEY Resch’s sporting schedule is taking on the look of an Olympic program, as she juggles representative commitments.
Resch has been excelling in the touch and hockey arenas, and was earlier this month one of three Tamworth players selected in the NSW U16 All Schools hockey team to attend the Pacific School Games in Canberra later in the year.
She will be joined in state colours by NSW U18s representatives Emma Clifton, and Lauren Chew.
Their selection adds to the throng of local talent heading to the games, which will be Resch’s second after previously qualifying in the high jump.
“I didn’t think I’d get in that (hockey side). That was a really big surprise,” Resch said.
The hockey trials, for her, followed a weekend training camp at Narrabeen with the Australian U18 touch squad.
The 15-year-old received notification of her selection in the squad about a month ago, after being on the radar for the past couple of years.
“It was exciting but a bit of a shock,” Resch said about receiving the letter informing her of her selection in the Aussie squad.
She is the youngest member of the squad and said the three-day camp was a great experience.
The team will be finalised after the National Championships in September and will contest the World Cup in New Zealand in January.
Resch will be representing the NSW CHS U18s at the championships, and is also currently in the U15s squad that will travel to
Tasmania.
The final trial for those will be held on July 26.
This week she has a training camp for that side and the U18s at the Central Coast, and will also head to Newcastle with the NSW U15 girls’ hockey side for their national title defence in October.
