TAMWORTH Gymnastics Club was rewarded for its efforts in hosting the Inland Technology Country Gymnastics Championships with a big medal haul.

Gunnedah Gymnastics Club fared pretty well too by the time the titles came to a close at the TRECC on Saturday.

The home club cleaned up in a number of events with 10 champions overall and a win in both the level 1 and level 7-10 team events among the

highlights.

Megan Su (level 3 senior), Caitlin Ham (level 1 senior) and Jessica Powell (level 7 senior) all won individual all around competitions.

Julia Hannaford, Rebecca Short, Emily Lecky and Emily Massey also picked up seconds in their respective events while Ella Windred, Whitney Johnston and Hailinn Diola took bronze medals.

One of Gunnedah’s strongest performers was Emily Hollingworth-Thibault who won a swag of individual honours.

Alison Sleath, Rebecca Smyth, Allison Clark, Meg Jaeger, Courtney Neighbour, Georgia Pryer, Claire Martin and Emily Martin were also in the top five in their respective events while Talisa Miller, Millie Smyth and Lacy Davis trifectaed the WAG level 5 intermediate.

Camille White had already won the level 4 intermediate all around title with Gunnedah clubmates Ally Heath and Alice Frend also making the top four.

Gunnedah also finished second in the WAG level 4 and five teams events.

Armidale also did well, especially in the MAG team events and in the rhythmic.

Emily Scrivener and Lucie Frost won a pairs event in the rhythmic while Ashley Parker and Charlotte Hine was second in the same category.

Amy Kwan and Madison McInnis combined to win a couple of pairs events too while McInnis was second in the level 1 senior individual competition.

In the WAG teams events Armidale was second in level 1 and level 4.

Gunnedah finished second behind Blackett Gymnastics Academy in the overall club championship with Tamworth third, South Coast won the men’s title, Lakeside was rhythmic champion and North Coast Academy the sport acro winner.

Tamworth club coach and secretary Jan McGinnity said the whole event was a triumph for the club.

“It was very successful,” she said.

“We had lots of positive

comments.

“NSW Gymnastics was very complimentary and was pleased with how professionally it was run.”
