Bendemeer needed a field goal in the dying seconds of its clash with Kootingal to register a 21-20 win.
In the other games, Dungowan was dominant in its 50-10 win over Manilla and Werris Creek showed its class in a 58-22 success against Barraba.
In Group 19, Tingha just hung on against Armidale.
The Tigers won 40-36 to stay on top of the table but the Rams provided the home side with a few nervous moments.
Uralla was far too good for Warialda in the other Saturday game, winning 72-20.
In yesterday’s game at Glen Innes, the Magpies humbled Guyra for the first time in years with a 60-nil hiding, confirming Glen’s standing as one of the teams to beat this year.
