20/05/2008 8:36:00 AM
A 70-year-old man and his 68-year-old wife were reported to be in stable conditions at Tamworth Hospital following a three-vehicle accident on Darling St yesterday.

Darling St, between Peel St and Marius St, was blocked as a result of the accident at about 10.20am.

The 69-year-old female driver of a Honda Accord was trapped briefly when one of the car’s doors would not open. The accident occurred when a car travelling west on Darling St collided with another car, an early model Ford Falcon sedan, which was then pushed into the path of the Accord travelling east.

All emergency services attended the

accident.

Police interviewed a number of witnesses to the accident, which occurred in front of the Tamworth Community Centre.

A spokesperson for ambulance media said three people had been conveyed to Tamworth Hospital.

A 38-year-old man, believed to have been driving the Ford, was discharged from hospital yesterday afternoon.

The elderly couple continued to be treated by staff at Tamworth Hospital late yesterday.
