Warrior's batter, hammer Athletics

WEST Bowlo Warriors blasted Southgate Inn Athletics out of their Tamworth Baseball first grade clash on Saturday.

The competition leaders hit Athletics around the diamond, scoring a 19-3 win.

“We came out of the blocks well with four runs in the first innings, which was good,” Warriors coach Jeff Chandler said.

“We really hit the ball well at the start of the game and we continued on from there.”

They were held scoreless in their second innings, but responded with five, four, four and two run-innings to finish.

“We try to get at least two runs an innings. Only missing out in one innings was good,” Chandler said.

Chris Dyson had four hits and Michael Martin and Jake Forsthye three apiece.

Their performance in the field was equally exemplary, holding Athletics scoreless until the top of the fifth innings.

“We only made one error during the game,” Chandler said.

“The pitching was good and we made a lot of ground balls out, which was good.”
