THE death of a 41-year-old Armidale local whose body was found by police in Dumaresq Creek on Monday ((18.8)) morning is being labelled "unusual" by New England LAC Police.

Duane Faulkner was reported missing to police on Sunday night by family members who last saw him at 7.20pm on Saturday ((16.8)) night.

Mr Faulkner was formally identified by family members in Armidale yesterday ((19.8)).

Police are waiting for the results of the post mortem examination being conducted in Newcastle to determine the cause of his death.

To help with their inquiries into the circumstances of Mr Faulkner's death New England Police have issued an appeal for information to Armidale residents who may have seen him in the Dumaresq Creek, Marsh St area near Stephen's Bridge Saturday ((16.8)) night.

New England Police Inspector Matt Lynch told The Leader police investigators are hoping to hear from three people in particular, who they believe might have offered Mr Faulkner assistance near the creek about 8pm on Saturday night (August 16).
